GENERAL INFORMATION
LOCATION:
Marylebone, London
The classes will be held at venues within the Marylebone area in central London, including at Tarisio, the Royal Academy of Music, Steinway, and/or others within a short 5-10 minute walk.
DATES
6th – 12th July 2025 (inclusive)
NB Participants are expected to stay for the duration of the course.

COST
The application fee is £20 due when applying.
The participation fee for the classes (active participation) is £380 due within 7 days of notification of acceptance to the classes.
The Chamber Group fee is paid per group, not per person i.e. total cost is £380.
Passive participation (i.e. listening to the classes) for musicians who applied to the classes is free.
The classes are also open to audience for a small cost payable in person in cash or online on the day.
BURSARIES AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The London Master Classes may be able to suggest a host families for participants who need financial assistance (subject to availability), and a limited number of bursaries may be available subject to sponsorship. Please specify in the “other” field in the application form if you need financial assistance.
APPLICATION
Applications for the 2025 London Master Classes are now open. The deadline for applications is 25th May 2025 11:59pm. Participants will be notified by Saturday 31st May.
We request links to 2 videos of contrasting repertoire totalling a minimum of c. 15 minutes, uploaded via YouTube (unlisted, or public). The videos must be live recordings.
Applications are open to students aged 18 and over.
CLASSES
Students will each have a minimum of 3 lessons with the faculty depending on class size and scheduling.
Participants for the violin and cello classes will have the following lesson allocations: at least 2 lessons with Steven Doane and at least 1 with Matthew Huber; at least 2 lessons with Philippe Graffin, and at least 1 with Jonian Ilias Kadesha.
David Waterman’s class for Chamber Groups is open for applications from duos and larger.
Students are encouraged to listen to other classes. The classes are also open to the public.
Class pianists will be provided for the violin and cello classes. If you wish to bring your own pianist please notify us so we can plan the schedule accordingly. It will not be possible to rehearse with the pianists in advance of lessons, but if you are selected to perform in the concert then a rehearsal will be scheduled.
ACCOMMODATION, MEALS, FACILITIES, ATTENDANCE
Accommodation and meals are not provided.
The London Master Classes may be able to provide a limited number of host families for participants (subject to availability), or offer a list of other options for accommodation. Early accommodation booking is advised.
Please note that practice facilities are limited and students should expect to practice at their accommodation. A small number of practice rooms will be available at the Royal Academy of Music, however preference should be given to pianists and chamber ensembles who may not have access to pianos at their accommodation. These rooms will also serve as warm-up rooms for the classes.
Please note that participants are responsible for their own visa requirements to enter the UK.
SCHEDULE
The classes will run every day and a schedule will be provided to the applicants prior to arrival. Lessons will last 1hr and participants will have 3 lessons during the course of the week. A student concert (or concerts) will take place at the Royal Academy of Music.
CONCERT
Student concert(s) will be scheduled including on Friday 11th July which will be open to the public. Not all participants will be selected to play due to programming and timing constraints.
RECORDING
Lessons and concerts may be recorded (audio and video) by the London Master Classes for promotional and archival use. In applying for the masterclasses, you grant consent to this recording, and for the London Master Classes to own and use freely any recorded material in the future. Students are welcome to record their lessons or concerts for non-commercial use using their own devices.
